"I'm going to sing my heart out for you!" [1]

Ino Sakura (桜 衣乃, Sakura Ino) is one of the five main characters in Dropout Idol Fruit Tart.

Official Description[]

Ino is a first-year high school student who joined Rat Productions as the agency's budding new idol.[2]

Appearance[]

Ino has long pink hair in twin ponytails and blue eyes. She wears a white flat top hat, a purple hair clip, a pink jacket with frilly patterns on it over a white button up shirt, a navy blue skirt over a white frilly shirt. She also wears black tights and tan brown boots.

Background[]

Raised in the countryside somewhere in Okayama, a prefecture some 350 miles west from Tokyo, Ino had always been surrounded by farm life. Like many children with humble upbringings, she had yearned to become someone big, and after watching Brocco perform on television, Ino knew she wanted to sing and dance just like her.

Years passed, and when Ino turned fifteen, she finally made the move to Tokyo as a new idol for Rat Productions. Although far from being the stereotypical "girl from the sticks," Ino nevertheless holds a somewhat romanticized view of Tokyo, one where the scenery is filled with nothing but giant skyscrapers, and where high school girls flocking to karaoke parlors after school is the norm.

Personality[]

Perhaps due to being raised in the laid-back environment of the country, Ino has a fairly level-headed temperament, neither being aggressive like Roko, nor as timid as Nina. She is easily able to adapt to the fast-paced life in the city, although Ino still retains some of her hometown sensibilities, such as being able to cook meals using freshly grown vegetables. However, Ino has a strong penchant for the moe aesthetic - cute things done by other girls. Whenever she witnesses or is becomes a part of something that is deemed cute, Ino has a tendency to drool and flush red with a certain delight.[3]

Ino has a seemingly rare medical condition in which she suddenly develops the urge to use the restroom whenever she gets nervous, especially when about to perform live on stage and even afterwards. This had troubled Ino since childhood, where athletic events and class recitals would often cause her to panic and dash to the nearest toilet.[4]

Commentary[]

"Straight from the pages of the comics comes the always boisterous, always smitten, and never-say-never Ino! It makes me so happy just to see her make friends with all the members of Fruit Tart. I'll work hard to bring life and energy to the girl from Okayama, as she makes her way to Tokyo to become an idol!!"
-Hiyori Nitta, the voice of Ino.[5]

Etymology[]

  • The name Ino means "clothing, garment" (衣, i) and "from" (乃, no).

  • Ino's surname Sakura means "cherry blossom" (桜).
